This is an old blog that I posted on my myspace page. It happened way back in March but C still brings it up every time she hears a fire truck.
We were trying to get out of the house by 11:00 to make it to La Porte by around noon. I had a few things in my hands and C followed me out to the car. Mike was getting the dogs settled and grabbing the rest of the stuff. I had C all buckled and ready to go when Mike hands me a movie and tells me to take over to my sister's and he will pick me up over there. No problem, right?!? Not if one of you has the keys! Yup, you guessed it! We locked our three year old in the car with both sets of keys.
The tears started right away and only got worse as I called 911. Within a couple of minutes a Sheriff's officer was in our driveway trying to get the door open with a coat hanger. He assured us that another unit was on the way with a slim jim. And then we heard the sirens. A large fire truck, ambulance, and two more sheriff's vehicles later the paramedic was handing C to me. She was fine of course because the car was in the shade and we had started the automatic start (which got us into this mess) so the air was on for most of the ordeal. C was absolutely fine the entire time. She drank her sippy, sucked her thumb, and held her baby up for us to talk to while we tried to talk her into climbing out of her seat or hitting the window button with her toe. She now plays lock the baby in the car and let the firemen come get her with her babies and will be the first to tell you that DADDY locked her in.

B told me this story about a week ago. I think she remembers every story you ever told her. Must be love.
