Happy 3rd Birthday to my Little Man!

It's hard to believe how much my little maniac has changed in the last few weeks.  We went from a half potty trained, pacifier sucking two year old, to a potty trained, pacifier free three year old in the matter of a week.  He handled it like a champ. Me on the other hand, I don't want to let go of my baby!

Last paci picure.

The cake!

Taking one of M's gifts for a ride.

Grrr can't get it to rotate.

Beach Vacation 2011

Kayaks? Check! Paddles? Check! Life Jackets? Check!  What more do you need for an awesome week at the beach?  Well alright, if you get down to it clothes, sunblock, food, but we won't get into the little details!

If you look into the distance you can see the Daddo, C, Mike, and M bringing the wave runners to the house.

This year’s adventure took us to a canal house in Pirate's Cove on Galveston Island.  Canal houses seem to work much better for the kayaks and wave runners than the beach does.  This year was a big year for our little family.  We haven't kayaked since M was about 6 months old and it had been too long!  My parents also bought C her first kayak and I have to brag a little...my girl ROCKS in a kayak!  She did awesome from the minute we put her boat in the water.  Turning circles and digging her out of a would be scary situation if the girl couldn't paddle so well.  Of course her little muscles would wear out quickly and she would end up tied to someone else's boat and enjoy the ride.
C loves Big Bertha

M's hair is a sign his daddy went way too fast!

Mike, Lala, Marmo, and Daddo

Our first day there we unloaded, got settled, and jumped in our boats to explore.  The tide was out and we found a neat little sand bar with a ray searching for dinner.  The little critter made its way straight to us and my ever so brave husband reached down and gave it a little rub.  That's when all hell broke loose!  The ray just about jumped into C's boat, who tried to jump into Mike's boat and totally lost it!  The tears, oh the tears!  Max, who was in my boat sat quietly and watched the whole thing go down and eyes the size of saucers.  He then proceeded to blow his emergency whistle to make it go away so his sister would be safe.  My dad and sister showed up right about that time and saw the sea creature make his way far away from us!  It was an absolutely awesome experience that I hope my kiddos will one day reflect on positively and the one time I didn’t have my camera!

Fishing was another big hit. My sister was the fisher woman to beat all fisher women!  She not only caught a keeper, she had the record for most fish caught in one session… 15!
Mike caught quite the keeper as well.

At one point the fishing was so good you didn’t even need to cast.  All you had to do was drop your bait in the water and you could feel a nibble.    M could not wait to get his fishing line in the water and catch the big one. (Previous post)  He and my mom wasted no time catching a fish.  We clapped, we cheered, we took photos, yet still he wanted a bigger one!

Even my sweet C got in on the action baiting her own hook and catching some fish!
There were fun trips to the beach and visits from Grammy and cousin D.

Grammy giving M a ride.

A quick Geocache!  Great job Mike for thinking out of the box!

Mike and I took the kiddos to Moody Gardens and had a blast.
My little shark!

Smooshing pennies, our favorite souvenir.

M napping on the way home.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a Galveston vacation if we didn’t make a stop at the Strand.  This year we stopped at the Railroad Museum before making our way to La Kings for some ice cream.  The highlight of this outing was Mike and M getting to ride in the engine which just happened to be blue like Thomas the Tank!  Although I was not comfortable with the statues, the rest of my family certainly seemed to enjoy them!

My husband smiling!  Isn't he handsome?!?

It was a busy week filled with one adventure after another that I know we can’t wait to do again!    Thanks Marmo and Daddo!
